INSPIRATION










STATEMENT OF INTENT
•My film magazine is going to be named ‘One Shot’ because it has synonyms of only one image and mise-en-scene which will be represented through the images on the cover of the magazine as well as the content page. ‘One Shot’ also has connotations of only having one one chance at something, relating to my brand ideology, which is going to be about empowering women and portraying that horror movies are about only having one shot to survive. This could also link to real life as it could help the audience to understand that life isn’t a joke and that they have to be careful because they may only have one chance to redeem themselves. My target audience is 16-25 year olds which is the age where people start to understand the purpose of life therefore the horror films are warning the audience that there is one chance. The masthead of my film magazine will be in capital letters and red font as red has connotations with danger and evil which links to horror. ‘One shot’ will also have red drips from the letters to have connotations with blood and to reinforce the horror. The main image on the cover will feature a teenage girl to appeal to the target audience of 16–25-year-olds therefore the audience will feel more included and the film magazine will promote inclusivity. I plan to use an eye- catching font and colour scheme to attract my target audience of 16–25-year-olds therefore my horror film magazine will mainly feature a house style of red, black and white to connote with evilness and to reinforce the ideology of horror. My film magazine main image on the front cover will use low key lighting with a flash of light to highlight the teenage girl's facial expressions therefore I will also use a close up to reinforce the girls emotions through the mise en scene. Using low key lighting will help to reinforce darkness which has connotations of horror.
•My contents page will be inspired by ‘Empire’ magazines which are by Bauer as they include
main image in low key lighting aswell as key features included in the magazine. I plan to follow key conventions to create a successful and reflect the standards of Bauer. For example, I will feature typography to create an intended meaning for each key feature of the horror film magazine aswell as to reinforce the purpose of the magazine. I will include direct mode of address to appeal to the audience and to make the audience feel more included. A key convention of my horror film magazine will be mise-en-scene as the images will create a clear meaning and they will give the audience a clearer understanding of the aim of the magazine aswell as what each section of the magazine is about. I will feature articles about new horror magazines and advertisements of new products including make-up and new games to appeal to my target audience. I will also use intertextuality which will lead the audience to a link online where they can read the magazine online as 16–25-year-old may prefer to read magazines digitally online.
